About Nurun

Nurun Nahar CMALT CMBE SFHEA is an academic, educator and research practitioner whose central focus is making higher education inclusive through technology. Her work sits at the intersection of technology-enhanced learning and student–staff partnership, driven by a pedagogy-first belief that technology should serve learning and that students should help shape the education they receive.

Nurun is an Assistant Professor of Accounting with Business at Greater Manchester Business School, University of Greater Manchester, where she serves as GenAI Lead. She advises on academic integrity, technology-enhanced learning and the responsible use of generative AI, guiding colleagues to evaluate new tools through a pedagogical rather than purely technical lens. Her expertise is recognised through Senior Fellowship of Advance HE, Certified Membership of the Association for Learning Technology and Chartered Management and Business Educator status.

Her experience spans institutional leadership, scholarship and sector-wide collaboration. She led a whole-institution project developing AI and digital literacy skills for all students, from pre-arrival onwards, and designed an AI Literacy Framework built on accessibility-first principles. A champion of Students as Partners, she designed frameworks and created resources that embed partnership principles in assessment and curriculum design.

Nurun founded TIRIgogy, an open education platform that widens access to professional development in higher education. Its growing global community of practitioners shares multidisciplinary, evidence-informed teaching through podcasts, webinars and blogs. The platform's reach and impact has been recognised nationally and internationally through a JISC Community Pioneer Award 2025 and Vevox Top Voice in Higher Education 2026.

A published scholar in digital assessment, AI in education, student partnership and inclusive curriculum design, Nurun presents widely at national and international conferences and is an invited keynote speaker. She served as a panellist at the United Nations University AI in Education conference 2026, as track chair for AIED 2025, Judge for QS Reimagine Education Awards, ALT Awards for Digital Transformation and Ethical EdTech, and as Chair of the TIRI Annual Teaching and Learning Conference 2024.
